A Missional Approach

What Does This Mean?

As the hosts of this website, Drs. Kent Burreson and Rhoda Schuler have studied the adult catechumenal practices of four Lutheran congregations. We are convinced that the unique approach of each one draws the entire congregation into a missional mindset. We are currently working to bring the findings of our research to the wider church through the blog on this website, through journal articles on our research, and through our forthcoming book, Journey to Jesus (Wipf & Stock). Here is a list of our journal publications:

Burreson, Kent. “Mentoring in the Pews: Fostering a Missional Habitus.” Lutheran Mission Matters 30:1 (May 2022): 80-87.  https://lsfm.global

Schuler, Rhoda Grever.  “Voyage to Belonging and Renewal through the Adult Catechumenate.” Currents in Theology and Mission 49:2 (2022): 42-48. https://currentsjournal.org/index.php/currents/article/view/351

Burreson, Kent and Rhoda Schuler.  “‘From My Head to My Toes, I Felt like a New Body Was Created’: Lessons from Contemporary Lutheran Catechumenates.” Worship 97 (April 2023): 127-146.
