Treasures Old and New: A Schedule for Experiencing Adult Faith Formation
We have been promoting our Concordia Seminary Prof Insights Summer Workshop for the past several weeks. If you are interested in exploring the benefits of adult catechumenal faith formation then consider traveling to Faith Lutheran Church in Hunstville, Texas, August 15-17. Below you will find our tentative schedule for the workshop. The workshop is organized around the four primary stages of the catechumenate: Inquiry; Catechumenate; Enlightenment; Mystagogy. We will explore the practices, catechesis, and rituals in each stage that make them unique. Each section will include the following elements: Dr. Schuler and I will give a presentation on the nature of each stage of the catechumenate with Q/A. We will have four conversations and Q/A via Zoom with LCMS pastors focusing on key aspects of the catechumenate in their contexts. We will experience and practice various forms of Scripture study often used throughout the catechumenate. We will facilitate planning how to enact catechumenal experiences and practices within your parish in its context. Finally, we will practice various key rites of faith formation so that you might experience those rites and know how to enact and lead them in your own congregation. We hope that as a result of this workshop you will be able to make the start of catechumenal faith formation practices with adults in your area. See the tentative schedule below. We hope to see you in Huntsville August 15-17. Please go to https://concordiasem.regfox.com/prof-insights-2022-burresonschuler-in-huntsville-tx to register.
